Local time, Copenhagen:
Beautiful original glass ceilings and a spacious, yet cozy vibe makes this superior apartment stand out as one of our absolute favourites. The historic stairway takes you from Strøget, the worlds oldest pedestrian shopping street, to this newly build (February 2020) three bedrooms + two bathrooms inner city deluxe vacation home.
In the 19th century the space was one of Copenhagens first and finest places to socialise and be seen. Staying at On The Mile 3 you will feel the history of Copenhagen with newly updated facilities and plenty of space for up to 8 guests to come together while exploring our wonderful city.
Three well-sized bedrooms with massive windows towards Strøget and french glass walls bring the light into the warm and cozy living area with carefully handpicked designer interior and lots of space. The building has well preserved historic and fine details throughout. The transformation into grandiose hotel apartments in collaboration with local designers, Indretningsfabrikken, really brings out the full glory of this impressive space.
A tour of the place
A wooden corridor takes you from Strøget and into the beautiful hallway with coloured glass ornaments and fine details. On the first floor a massive door opens into the entrance of the apartment where you right away get a good understanding of the layout.
To your right is the fully equipped kitchen and bathrooms. The full kitchen has a high table for socialising while preparing diners or enjoying a quick breakfast. The kitchen space is one among many hangouts in the living area.
The two new bathrooms are nice and functional yet one of them quite small and narrow. The bigger one has a washer and a dryer.
With a massive french glass wall the three big bedrooms all have separate entrances and big windows facing Strøget. The high window panels are designed for lounging and people-watching on the downstairs shopping street.
All bedrooms hold comfortable kingsize (180x200cm) beds which split into singles if preferred.
At the other end of the living area a nice big dining table for 8 and a grand living room / lounge area with sofas, huge flatscreen TV and free Netflix of course.
A sofa in the living area unfolds to a high quality queensize bed (160x200 cm) for two.
On Strøget (Østergade) some of Copenhagens finest shops are located. High end brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton and local classics like Birger Christensen are side by side in this posh end of the famous shopping street. A two minute walk and you will hit Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn and lots and lots of great restaurants, bars and sights to explore. The metro is around the block and with a 12 minute train ride from there you are at the airport. A convenient, classy and buzzling location.
